Leya was raised in the Alberta Rocky Mountains, which served as inspiration for much of her creative output. Most of Leya Deschuymer's creative influence comes from her mother, Carly Deschuymer, who died when Leya was a teenager. The catalyst for a lifetime of severe depression and PTSD was this incident.
